Overview
Indian citizens aged 18 and above can register as voters and receive an Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) through the Election Commission of India Voter Portal. The online application asks for personal details, address, and a photograph, followed by verification by the Electoral Registration Officer.
Eligibility
- You are an Indian citizen
- You are 18 years of age or above as on the qualifying date
- You are an ordinary resident of the constituency where you want to be enrolled

- Recent passport-size photograph
- Identity proof (Aadhaar, PAN, passport, driving licence, etc.)
- Address proof (Aadhaar, utility bill, bank passbook, rent agreement, etc.)

Step-by-Step Process
Visit the Election Commission Voter Portal
Open the official Voter Portal at https://voters.eci.gov.in. The homepage displays options for new voter registration, login, and application tracking.

Create an account or log in
Click Login/Register and enter your mobile number and email to create a voter portal account. Existing users can log in with their credentials or OTP.

Error: "Mobile number already registered" — Use the Forgot Password option or try logging in instead of creating a new account.
Open Form 6 for new voter registration
After logging in, select "Fill Form 6" from the dashboard. Enter your personal details, address, and family details exactly as required by the Election Commission.

Upload a recent passport-size photograph and scanned copies of identity, address, and age proof. Make sure the file size and format match portal requirements.

Use a clear, colour photograph with a plain background. Most portals accept JPG/PNG under 2 MB.
Review and submit the application
Check every field carefully, enter the captcha if shown, and submit. The portal generates an application reference number immediately.

Track application and BLO verification
Use the Track Application Status option on the portal to follow progress. A Booth Level Officer may contact you for address verification.
