Overview
The Universal Account Number (UAN) is a unique number assigned to every EPFO member. Activating it online lets you view your passbook, update KYC, and file claims using a single login. You need your UAN, member ID, and Aadhaar or PAN to activate.
Eligibility
- You are an EPFO member with an allotted UAN and member ID
- You have an active mobile number for OTP verification
- You have Aadhaar, PAN, and bank details ready for KYC

Step-by-Step Process
Visit the EPFO Unified Member Portal
Open https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in. The homepage shows options for UAN activation and member login.

Click the UAN activation link and enter your UAN, member ID, Aadhaar or PAN, name, date of birth, mobile number, and captcha.

Error: "UAN details do not match" — Check that your UAN, member ID, name, and date of birth match EPFO records.
Verify with OTP
An OTP is sent to your mobile number. Enter it on the activation page to verify your identity.

The OTP is valid for a short time. Click Resend OTP if needed.
Set your login password
After OTP verification, create a strong password for the EPFO member portal. Save it securely.

Use your activated UAN and new password to log in. Update your KYC details under the Manage section.
