The Employees' State Insurance Corporation provides social security benefits to employees. Employers must register their establishment and contribute monthly. Employees are insured automatically once the employer registers them and generates an Insurance Person (IP) number.

Insured persons can download the e-Pehchan card from the ESIC IP portal after the employer has registered them and uploaded their photograph. The card is used for cashless medical treatment at ESIC hospitals and dispensaries.
