Overview
If you have moved to a new residence, keeping your Aadhaar address updated is important for identity verification and delivery of government benefits. UIDAI lets you update your address online through the myAadhaar portal using a valid Proof of Address document.
Eligibility
- You have a valid 12-digit Aadhaar number
- Your current mobile number is registered with Aadhaar for OTP
- You have a valid Proof of Address document from the approved UIDAI list

- Valid Proof of Address (POA) such as passport, bank statement, utility bill, or ration card
- Scanned copy or clear photo of the POA document

Visit the official UIDAI website
Open https://uidai.gov.in in your browser. From the homepage, navigate to the myAadhaar section to access online update services.

Log in to the myAadhaar portal
On the myAadhaar login page, enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and the security captcha. Then click Login With OTP.

Error: "OTP could not be sent" — This usually means your current mobile number is not registered with Aadhaar. Visit an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre to register it first.
Enter the OTP
Enter the 6-digit OTP received on your registered mobile number to access your myAadhaar dashboard. This screen is generated only after login.

The OTP expires quickly. Click Resend OTP if needed, and never share it with anyone.
Open "Update Your Aadhaar"
After logging in, go to the Update Your Aadhaar section and choose the option to update demographics or address.

Choose Address as the field to update. Enter your new address carefully so that it matches your Proof of Address document.

Double-check pin code, district, and state. Mistakes here can delay approval.
Upload your Proof of Address
Upload a clear, colour scan or photo of a valid POA document. The document must show your name and the new address clearly.

Keep the file size under 2 MB and in PDF/JPG format for faster upload.
Pay the fee and save the URN
Pay the ₹50 update fee through the secure payment gateway. After successful payment, note the Update Request Number (URN) to track your application.
