Overview
Indian passports are usually valid for 10 years for adults and 5 years for minors. You can apply for reissue/renewal through the Passport Seva Online Portal. The process involves filling out an online form, paying the fee, booking an appointment, and visiting the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) with original documents.
Eligibility
- Your current passport is expired or expiring within the next 12 months
- You need additional pages or a change in personal details
- Your passport is damaged, lost, or stolen

- Old passport (original and photocopies of first/last pages)
- Aadhaar card or other address proof
- Date of birth proof (if not in old passport)
- Recent passport-size photographs
- Self-attested copies as per PSK requirements

Step-by-Step Process
Visit the Passport Seva Online Portal
Open the official Passport Seva website. On the homepage you will find options to apply for a passport, check appointment availability, and track your application.

Create an account if you are a first-time user. Use a valid email and mobile number.
Login or register
Enter your Passport Seva Login ID to access the applicant dashboard. New users must register first using their email and mobile number.

Apply for reissue/renewal
After logging in, select "Apply for Fresh Passport/Reissue of Passport" and choose the renewal option. Fill in your old passport details accurately.

Fill the online application form
Complete the application form with your personal details, family details, address, and emergency contact information. Upload a passport-size photograph as per PSK specifications.

Pay the passport fee
Choose the passport booklet type (36 or 60 pages) and normal or Tatkal service. Pay the applicable fee online through the secure payment gateway.

Book appointment at PSK
After payment, select your preferred Passport Seva Kendra, date, and time slot. Confirm the appointment and print the application receipt.

Visit PSK with documents
On the appointment day, visit the selected PSK with your old passport, photographs, and supporting documents. Complete biometric verification and document checking.
